Shanghai Philharmonic Female’s Choir

Choir presentation
At the suggestion of renowned Chinese conductor Professor Yang Hongnian, the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra Women’s Choir was founded in Shanghai in September 2003.
It gave its first dedicated choral concert at the Shanghai Grand Theatre in February 2004. The same year, the choir took part in the 2nd Busan International Choir Festival in South Korea, where it came fourth overall in a category-less competition that selected only the top six choirs.
In 2006, it took part in the 8th China Choral Festival in Shenzhen, winning the gold prize in the female choir category.
To keep pace with the rapid development of choral art in China, and to respond to the growing interest of female music lovers, the Choirs welcomes women of all ages and is continually recruiting new members. Guided by the founding philosophy of “Seeking joy in harmonies and shaping elegance through choral rhythms”, the ensemble explores the infinite charm of choral music.
