Harmonious Chorale Ghana

Harmonious Chorale Ghana is a non-denominational semi-professional choir based in Ghana’s capital, Accra. It began in 2005 as a quartet and later became a full choir in October 2007. Thanks to its dedication and hard work, Harmonious Chorale has established a place and identity that have enabled many choral groups, both within and outside the country, to benefit from patronage.

Harmonious Chorale was crowned champion of the World Choir Games (Category C28) at its first participation in 2018 in South Africa. The choir has also won numerous awards, including “Choir of the Year” at the GHYouth Choir Choral Festival and Awards for three consecutive years, from 2015 to 2017. The choir also received the prestigious award for Best Choral Group at the Shine Awards 2018.

Awards & distinctions

Harmonious Chorale identifies as a Christian organisation and is the resident choir of the Salt and Light Music Ministry, a para-church organisation whose aim is to motivate and encourage the body of Christ to live active Christian lives.

The choir has currently produced twelve (12) albums.

The choir is led by James Varrick Armaah, a prolific composer who has written several works, including the multi-award-winning song “Oye”, also known as “Asem papa bia m’ate”.) The Reverend Dr Joyce Rosalind Aryee is the choir’s Executive Chairperson.
