Friends of Song

Choir presentation
The first activities of the vocal ensemble “Les Amis du Chant Luxembourg” date back to the early 1970s, when a few friends met regularly to pursue a shared passion: a cappella choral singing.
Engagements multiplied and diversified over the years, culminating in 1978 when the vocal ensemble officially made its debut. However, it was not until November 8, 1980, that the group presented its first concert under the official name “Les Amis du Chant Luxembourg.”
Since its official debut in 1978, the vocal ensemble “Les Amis du Chant Luxembourg” has performed approximately 500 engagements of all kinds (concerts, recitals, TV recordings, CDs and radio broadcasts, masses, etc.), including around forty abroad during tours to Germany, Austria, Belgium, France, Great Britain, Italy, Switzerland, and Romania. In 2010, the ensemble had the honor of presenting concerts in Greiz, Dresden, and Potsdam, and in 2012 the ensemble performed a concert in Guimarães, the “European Capital of Culture 2012,” as well as in Chaves. Lake Constance is a favorite destination for the ensemble. In 2015, the choir members gave a concert in Meersburg and at Messkirch Castle.
But it is especially in Luxembourg that the ensemble has built a fine reputation with its traditional Christmas concert “Christmas Carols.”
