Canadian Chinese Children’s Choir of Canada

Choir presentation
The Chinese Canadian Children’s Choir of Canada (C5) is a non-profit organization based in Ottawa. It focuses on developing a fundamental understanding of music, life, emotional expression, and intercultural communication for children aged 5 to 16. It offers an experience where East meets West and helps increase the cultural awareness and confidence of young Canadians. It promotes the learning of languages and cultures by singing Chinese, English, and French songs, and allows children to learn to appreciate and embrace the spirit of multiculturalism in Canada.
C5 is recognized for the quality of its programming and for the attention it pays to Canadian and Chinese cultures. It strives to foster an environment of sincerity, dedication, and responsibility by combining stories, traditions, languages, and cultures from around the world. C5’s repertoire includes songs composed by its own members, one of which received a gold medal in a Chinese children’s songwriting competition held in Beijing.
C5 supports the development of its members through an active program of choral learning and performance. In the practice of learning and functioning as a choir, C5 maintains strong relationships between parents, the conductor, and students, as well as close ties with the community. It is committed to encouraging, recognizing, and appreciating the contributions and achievements of its members. Our choir teaches its members Chinese and Western songs, a fusion of the two, and helps them develop a better sense of cultures with an emphasis on the Chinese, English, and French languages.
THE CHOIR DIRECTOR: Patricia Kaiser
Patricia Kaiser trained as a vocal music teacher and has 19 years of experience in elementary education, primarily within the Ottawa Catholic School Board. She has gained extensive experience performing in various choirs, including the Ensemble Calixa Lavalée under the direction of Laurence Ewashko.
