Slavoj & Rubeš Choirs

Slavoj of Chrudim and Rubeš of Skuteč Mixed Choirs

Choir presentation

The partner choirs, “Slavoj” from Chrudim and “Rubeš” from Skuteč, are among the oldest choirs in the Czech Republic. Their singing has enriched the cultural life of these two cities for over 160 years.

For the past 20 years, their activities have been linked by a common conductor, Zdeněk Kudrnka.

The friendship and close cooperation between the two choirs allow them to perform major musical works in collaboration with symphonic orchestras and soloists, such as Beethoven’s Mass in C major, Vivaldi’s Gloria in D major, Dvořák’s Stabat Mater, and others.

The choir’s repertoire includes compositions of all styles, including classical, sacred, folk, spiritual, and popular music.

Awards & distinctions

The choirs perform and organize regional concerts, but they also regularly participate in the Tomášek and Novák Music Festival in Skuteč, the Wambeřice International Singing Festival, and choral competitions.

As part of their international activities, they visit or host choirs from other countries, such as France, Poland, Germany, Canada, and the Netherlands.
