In February 2016, the youth group was founded by 35 young people with no prior choral training. It currently consists of 33 members aged 15 to 25.
The premiere took place on April 24 as part of the Munduan I concert in the Fátima Church in Errenteria. Subsequently, during Munduan II on June 11, they performed more extensively, presenting a total of 5 works.
In 2017, the group established itself further, conducting an artistic exchange with the choir of the Beasain Musika Eskola, Narama Taldea, with excellent results. In turn, several choristers performed as part of Landarbaso Abesbatza during two performances of the Quinzaine Musicale, interpreting Carmina Burana and Josu Elberdin’s Te Deum.
THE CHOIR DIRECTOR: Maddalen Dorronsoro
Maja Braun is a journalist by profession, but she has also been an enthusiastic and versatile musician since childhood. She began working at the Africa desk of Deutsche Welle before taking on management roles in the field of program development.
During her university studies, she founded the first African student choir in the city of Leipzig, in eastern Germany. In 2008, she took over the direction of the Deutsche Welle International Choir, continuing her passion for exploring beautiful melodies from musical traditions around the world.
