Choir of Senior Students Children’s Music School n°1 Uzhhorod

The Senior Choir is attached to Children’s Music School No. 1 in Uzhgorod, Ukraine. The ensemble is made up of girls from the choir and piano sections, aged between 12 and 15. Over 100 students are members of the Choirs. Since 2009, the choir has been directed by experienced choirmaster Olena Tymchyk.
The Choirs are the pride of the school and are recognized as one of the best children’s choirs in the Zakarpattia region.
The Choirs’ repertoire includes Western European classical music, Ukrainian sacred music, folk song arrangements and original contemporary works. The ensemble performs both a cappella and with instrumental accompaniment.
THE CHOIR DIRECTOR: Olena Tymchyk
Olena Tymchyk was born in 1965 in Uzhhorod. After graduating in choral conducting from the National Institute of Culture and Art in Rivne, her passion for choral music led her to work as a conductor of school and amateur choirs, as well as a singer with the professional academic chamber choir “Cantus”, which is well known in Ukraine and Europe. She has taught singing, music theory and choral conducting at music schools in Uzhhorod.
Since 2009, Tymchyk Olena has been directing the final-year pupils’ choir at the Uzhhorod Children’s Music School No. 1.
Olena has been a jury member on several occasions at singing and choir competitions in Ukraine and Poland.
