The Biser Women’s Choir

Choir presentation
The Biser women’s choir from Grosuplje has been in existence since 2002. The singers are united by a deep love of music, to which they devote most of their free time, alongside their studies, professional commitments and family responsibilities.
In addition to performing at most of the events organized in their hometown, the Choirs have also made numerous Tours in recent years: to Rome, where it performed for diplomats from Rome and the Vatican; to Dalmatia, where it gave four concerts, also in collaboration with Dalmatian klapa groups; to Brussels, where it sang, among other things, at the academic ceremony marking the national holiday; to Tenerife; and it also performed several times for Slovenes living abroad in Benecia, Resia and Carinthia. The singers regularly take part in the International Choirs Camp in Šentvid pri Stični and perform at various venues throughout Slovenia. They also enjoy collaborating with other Choirs.
With a consistent thematic program, expressive singing and refined staging, the Choirs impressed the professional jury in November 2018 and were selected as the best ensemble from Slovenia’s central region to perform at the Sozvočenja 2018 final, held in December at the Slovenian Philharmonic. At the International Competition in Tuhelj, Croatia, the choir received a gold plaque, while the conductor was awarded a special prize for the most original selection and interpretation of the program. At the Kočevje Regional Competition in November 2019, the choir was awarded a gold medal and a special prize for the best interpretation of a Slovenian folk song. In 2023, the choir received the Silver Emblem award from the municipality of Grosuplje for its achievements and also took part in the Kočevje Regional Competition, where it was awarded the silver prize.
The choir has been directed by Fernando Pablo Mejías since September 2017.

From her incessant travels, Fanny Anderegg brings back memories in the form of songs (La figlia dal Vent); and it was following a walk to Santiago de Compostela that she recorded her second album: Le 8ème jour.
In May 2010, a new CD, Home, was released. Drawing inspiration from interviews with about thirty people of different ages, cultures, and origins, Fanny Anderegg explores in their roots what constitutes their sense of belonging, their “homeland.”
In March 2013, the album HAPAX was created. The core quartet expanded to include a cello and a trombone.
In 2015, she composed the music and lyrics (orchestra and choir) for the show “Le Géant aux doigts de fée” – a multidisciplinary cultural mediation project staged by the Théâtre de la Poudrière.
She created the electro-acoustic duo “L’HORÉE” with Vincent Membrez, releasing a first EP in 2017 and the album Des Voiles in autumn 2019.
In autumn 2018, she created the young audience show “Le mystérieux chevalier sans nom,” for which she notably composed the music.
