Mélo di’Arte

Choir presentation
Founded by a few musician friends, the Mélo di’Arte association was established in January 2014.
The main objective: to share skills with anyone wishing to get involved in musical practice, whether vocal, instrumental, ensemble, or solo.
To achieve this, workshops are organized, open to everyone regardless of skill level, as well as Musical Encounters projects. Each event, often linked to another art form, concludes with one or more public performances.
The “Vocal di’Arte” ensemble, thus formed, performs a repertoire of works from all periods and in a variety of styles. It performs at the request of departmental, regional, national… and international organisers!
The association “Mélo di’Arte” has a second objective: to train choristers for the role of section leader, or even choir conductor. To this end, several training workshops are offered, either occasionally during courses or regularly throughout the year.
THE CHOIR DIRECTOR: Odile Deroin
Immersed in music at the age of 3, Odile Deroin began piano studies at the National School of Brest. At the end of her curriculum, during which she acquired professional skills validated by various awards in national piano competitions, she developed a desire to pursue, as an adult, various training courses: practicing the transverse flute, and training as an orchestra conductor with Yves Cohen at the Aubagne Conservatory. This specific training allowed her to discover, then practice, orchestral and choral conducting.
As a teacher in the National Education system, Odile Deroin fosters a love for music in the students entrusted to her. For several years, acting as an educational advisor, she trained teachers in her department in music education.
At the same time, she takes part in musical projects in Charente in many different ways. Her piano training enables her to accompany several vocal ensembles, to be part of a string quintet, and to form, with two friends who are classical singers, a trio, “les ‘pies qui chantent”.
Having founded a children’s choir in 1996, she created “Amalgam’” in Garat, then in 2010, the opportunity to take part in a Franco-German exchange gave her the chance to conduct the choir of the Magnac sur Touvre Musical Association.
In 2013, together with a few musician friends, she came up with the idea of creating the association “Mélo di’Arte”, which organises music courses that conclude with regional, national, and even international musical gatherings.
