Philadelphia Melody Choir: Established in 2015, the Philadelphia Melody Chorus is led by the renowned choral conductor Wanjun Qiao. Since its inception, the choir has organized and hosted numerous large-scale concerts, such as “Ode to the Yellow River,” “Dai Yuqiang Concert,” “Concert of Wang Liping’s Works,” and the “Melody Autumn Concert,” among others. Following the three-year COVID-19 pandemic, the choir has resumed its regular activities. Under the direction of guest conductor Kelly Ye, the Philadelphia Melody Chorus is active once again, offering more musical events to the community.
THE CHOIR DIRECTOR: Kelly Ye
Originally from Hangzhou, China, Kelly (Qingyang) Ye earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and Music Theory and Composition (summa cum laude) from Westminster Choir College of Rider University in New Jersey. She is currently pursuing her Master of Music in Voice Performance and Pedagogy at the same institution. She has studied with vocal pedagogues Kathy Price and Rochelle Ellis, vocal coach Akiko Hosaki, piano pedagogue James Goldsworthy, composers Stefan Young, Ronald Hemmel, and Jay Kawarsky, and conductors Tom Shelton, Joe Miller, Maestro Mark Gibson, Ryan Brandeau, Amanda Quist, and Z. Randall Stroope. She has also performed under the direction of conductors Yannick Nézet-Séguin and Stéphane Denève. She currently directs the Melody Choir in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and the Spruce Run Lutheran Church in Glen Gardner, New Jersey.
