The Limerick Chamber Choir was formed by Máire Keary-Scanlon in 2017. The choir is composed of singers from the Limerick area with diverse musical backgrounds, many of whom have previously sung together in other choirs.

To date, a significant part of its repertoire consists of works by living Irish and international composers, but the choir also enjoys performing works from other eras.

More recently, the Limerick Chamber Choir presented its “Of Stars And Light” concert to audiences in Limerick and Wicklow,

Awards & distinctions

The choir members performed at St Mary’s Cathedral for Limerick Mental Health Week and gave the European premiere of National Geographic’s “Symphony For Our World” at the LIT Gaelic Grounds, Limerick, with an 80-piece symphony orchestra.

It was the only Irish performance of this monumental work, and the choir was delighted to have been invited as the featured vocal ensemble.

The Limerick Chamber Choir presented the world premiere of three choral works by Seán Doherty at the Bealtaine Festival in 2017 and, in the future, they strive to continue providing a platform for the works of emerging and established Irish choral composers.
