Since March 2013, the choir director has been Michał Brożek.
The choir has 60 members. The ensemble represents the University mainly at academic ceremonies, concerts and regional events, as well as at competitions and choral music festivals in Poland and worldwide.

The choir has performed concerts in Italy, Lithuania, Turkey, Spain, France, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, North Macedonia, China, and Greece.

Awards & distinctions

The ensemble has won more than 30 awards at national and international competitions. The ensemble has also taken part in numerous festivals in Poland and around the world, such as the 56th International Festival of Sacred Music “Virgo Lauretana” in Loreto, Italy (2016), the “Beijing International Choral Festival” in China (2018), the “Ohrid Choir Festival” in North Macedonia (2018), the 7th BACH Festival organized by the Chœur Rencontres Musicales en Loire in Saint-Étienne, France (2019), the International Choral Competition “MUNDI CANTANT” in Olomouc, Czech Republic (2019), the Grand Prix of the “M U S I C & SEA” FESTIVAL in Paralia, Greece (2022), the 17th International Choral Festival “Gaude Cantem” in Bielsko-Biała, Poland (2022), and the National Choral Competition “Magnificat” in Bytom (2022).

The choir’s repertoire spans early, classical, romantic, and contemporary music, including sacred-themed compositions, popular music arrangements, songs inspired by the folklore of various nations, as well as vocal and instrumental works such as Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem, Joseph Haydn’s Missa Brevis, Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, John Rutter’s Magnificat, Johann Sebastian Bach’s Mass in B minor, BWV 232, Wojciech Kilar’s Missa pro pace for 4 solo voices (SATB), mixed choir and orchestra, and Karl Jenkins’s Stabat Mater.

The choir of the University of Economics in Katowice has recorded five albums.
The choir has also been the organizer of the Metropolitan Choral Festival since 2018. The fifth edition will take place in April 2023.
