Youth in Song

Choir presentation

Gioventù in Cantata is an ensemble founded in 1971 with the aim of promoting and developing children’s choral education, which over the years has gradually evolved into a true “choral music” school, currently affiliated with the A. Pedrollo Conservatory of Vicenza and characterised by the constant search for new repertoires and new forms of artistic expression.

The result is a broad repertoire and a rich musical range exploring many styles, from classical to contemporary music, performed with a strong personality thanks to the integration of musical practice with new elements of theatricality, gesture and movement, under the direction of Giulia Malvezzi.

Under the attentive and inspiring guidance of its director, Cinzia Zanon, the choir continues its journey with tremendous energy, always striving to improve and renew itself, offering the public genuine and intense emotions.

The group is also behind major musical events (Spring Music – International Choral Meetings, Poetry in Song, etc.), based on the idea that encounters between different artistic practices can create mutually enriching relationships.

Alongside the focus on in-depth study and artistic and vocal improvement (the latter taught individually by Professor Manuela Matteazzi), the value is constantly emphasised.

Choral activity must be educational: children, teenagers and young people are guided in shared efforts, in accepting rules of conduct and collective relationships, in order to achieve shared results and satisfaction.

Awards & distinctions

For all these reasons, in November 2017, the group won the coveted City of Marostica prize.

THE CHOIR DIRECTOR: Cinzia Zanon

Cinzia Zanon graduated in choral music and choir conducting under Maestro Bruno Coltro.

During her training, she attended specialist courses with internationally renowned teachers.

Her desire to pass on her passion and enthusiasm for singing and music in general, combined with her conviction of the great educational value of the “choir”, led her to specialise in the teaching sector by attending courses throughout Italy and, in turn, organising advanced training courses for teachers and choir conductors.

Among the most recent, she took part as a workshop teacher in 2012 and 2013 at the Spring Festival, a national choral event organised by Feniarco, reserved for youth choirs.

She is a member of listening panels and juries for national showcases and competitions.

As director of various choral ensembles (women’s, mixed, children’s voices) and instrumental groups, she has toured in America, Canada, Argentina, Brazil, Japan, Australia and many countries of the European Union.

Awards & distinctions

She is part of the ASAC Regional Arts Commission and is the creator and artistic director of national and international events: “Spring Music – International Choral Meetings”, “Canticoro – Choral Music in Bassano” and “Poetry in Song”.

Among her most important awards, it should be noted that she received the jury’s “special conducting prize” in 1999 at the Riva del Garda International Competition of Sacred and Secular Music, and that she was among the 12 selected finalists admitted to the 1st International Choir Conductor Competition “Mariele Ventre”, held in Bologna in October 2001.
