WARSAW CHOIR

The Choir of the Warsaw School of Economics – Poland

Choir presentation

The choir has existed for over forty years, but it owes its current form to its conductor, Tomasz Hynek, who relaunched the group in 1993. While most members are students and alumni, it has also attracted many singers with no direct connection to the University. The choir performs major classical works as well as recent compositions and has made a name for itself with bold interpretations of popular tunes.

Awards & distinctions

Over the past 16 years, the group has won numerous awards, including first place in the University Choir category at the 7th International Festival of Religious Music Apskie Te Deum, first place and the Golden Lyre at the 4th Varsovia Cantus International Choral Festival in Warsaw, and the Grand Prix at the Vivat Academia University Choral Festival in Mazovia. It has also collaborated with other choirs, performing Karol Szymanowski’s Stabat Mater for the first anniversary of the death of John Paul II (with the Warsaw University Choir) and participating in the European Christmas Carol Gala at the National Opera. The choir has been enthusiastically received at concerts in Germany and Switzerland, appeared as a special guest in Portugal, and distinguished itself in prestigious international competitions in Italy and Ireland. It has recorded four albums: Debut, Passion, Gospel Mass, Bach Lassus.
