The Voix de la Comté choir was founded in 2002 in a small village in the Puy-de-Dôme department: Saint-Babel. Interest grew very quickly, and we reached as many as 67 members.

We have been led for 12 years by Nicolas Ferrandon, and our repertoire consists of French variety songs. Our conductor, who is also a pianist and drummer, directs seven other choirs and founded several jazz-rock groups, including Les Petits Pois.

 

Awards & distinctions

Gradually, Nicolas helped us evolve; we “let go” of our sheet music and began to move on stage.

Two years ago, under his leadership, we embarked on the creation of a musical show, “Saint-Babel-sur-Mer.” The choir members’ skills were put to good use. We created the script, the staging, and the sets. This year, we experienced the culmination of this musical and human adventure by giving two performances in Issoire. More than 1,100 spectators came to discover this musical show featuring 40 singers, their conductor, and 22 French variety songs.

SAINT-BABEL-SUR-MER, or how a small Auvergne town is transformed, as if by magic, into a seaside village…
