The choir was founded in 1996.

Its repertoire consists of authentic traditional songs performed from all folk regions of Bulgaria, primarily from Strandja and Thrace.

In 1999, a musical ensemble called “Shareni Gaytani” was formed to bring together children aged 7 to 10 and participate with the young and adult singers of the “Trepetlika” choir in competitions and festivals in Bulgaria and Europe.

Awards & distinctions

The first album of Ms. Zaprianova’s repertoire, featuring folk songs from the Strandja Mountain region, was released in 2002.

In 2006, a CD was released with songs by Bulgarian composers performed by the “Trepetlika” choir.

From 2006 to the present day, the “Trepetlika” choir has made numerous recordings on Bulgarian radio and television, as well as participating in national and international competitions, festivals, and celebrations.

The “Trepetlika” choir is one of the Bulgarian choirs that has won multiple awards in Russia, Italy, Hungary, and several European countries.

The choir’s numerous participations in musical events in Bulgaria and abroad make this ensemble a major player in the Bulgarian musical landscape.

Ms. Pepa Zaprianova has been the choir director since its founding, having received multiple awards and recognition as one of the most renowned choir directors in Bulgaria.

THE CHOIR DIRECTOR: Pepa Zapryanova

Founder of the choral and musical ensemble “Shareni Gaytani” for children aged 7 to 10.

She studied at one of Bulgaria’s finest music schools in Varna, where she acquired her foundational knowledge and skills in piano and classical singing.

Ms. Zapryanova is a master music educator, having graduated from the Academy of Music and Dance Arts in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.

Director of “Elin Pelin” Primary School – Burgas since 2019, which she is developing as a school specializing in music, artistic activities, foreign languages, and modern technologies.

Awards & distinctions

A music teacher and music educator for 28 years, she speaks Italian and Spanish and also uses French in her daily work.

Awarded multiple times by the Ministry of Culture and Education for her musical activity, she has been honored by the International Organization of La Francophonie for her participation in various Francophone events.
