RTAI Choir

Choir presentation
Having spent our entire lives passing on the love of learning and music to students aged 4 to 13, retirement has given us, former teachers, the time to enjoy the pleasures of choral singing.
Mary Fitzgerald had the vision and organizational drive to invite former primary school retirees to form a choir 11 years ago. Initially, it was informal, but the members had the ambition to be as good as possible.
The appointment of Dr. Mary G.O’Brien as musical director and conductor set us on the right path. She strengthened our confidence as singers and set standards for us to achieve.
Shortly after, invitations to perform locally came our way. As we attracted new members, we were able to attempt more challenging works and began to travel. Two visits in honor of Saint Patrick, patron saint of Ireland, took us to Northern Ireland. To allow us to enjoy the music and avoid the stress of competition, we sang in San Marino and Krk in Croatia at non-competitive festivals.
We enjoyed the buzz and camaraderie of other choristers, from young to senior, singing on equal footing, united in song. We bring this magic home each year when we sing alongside the International Choral Festival.
We join Ashton Secondary School and an invited international choir to perform before the entire school community and guests.
While we work hard to prepare our musical contribution to your festival, we look forward to being with you in June at the International Choral Festival in Normandy.
