Choir presentation
Founded in 2014, the association brings together around twenty friends with a passion for singing. Over the years, ties have grown stronger and the group has evolved in its technicality, repertoire and new challenges. The Chœur Des Notes loves to share its sparkling musical universe. The program is varied: contemporary American, world songs, harmonized pop, body percussion… but always a capella.
The choir is directed by several conductors, enriching the technique, dynamics and self-fulfilment of the choristers: the latter have the opportunity to launch themselves into directing by proposing a piece and teaching it to the group.
The association functions on a participative mode where everyone has a role to play, in communication, the organization of concerts, the organization of musical workshops… Rehearsals take place once a week at the Aix-en-Provence Conservatory. Recruitment, when it takes place, is by audition at the beginning of the year, and among experienced candidates.
THE CHOIR DIRECTOR: Anne-Solène Ravalec & Laurie Wagner
Anne-Solène Ravalec
In the ranks of the alti since 2014 and after a few trials as a conductor, Anne-Solène took over the choir’s principal direction in spring 2020, following the departure of founder Marianne de Coninck.
In love with this group, Anne-Solène progresses through and among the choristers and feeds off everyone’s experience. She is keen to maintain the diversity of repertoire that makes up the group’s identity, and draws inspiration from exchanges with other choirs and music groups. Workshops, encounters and musical jam sessions are all the more important for her in bringing music to life and discovering new worlds. From pop to poetry, traditional to contemporary, the discovery of registers seems infinite, and each one offers an exciting experience.
Laurie Wagner
A chorister for many years, Laurie took on the role of director in 2021 alongside Anne-Solène, proposing songs in line with the musical program. That year, the association decided that the group would be a participatory choir, and that the direction
would be open to volunteer choristers.
A graphic designer by trade, Laurie actively supports the group’s projects by directing communications, the group’s image and costumes.
