The Cannes Choir

Choir presentation
The Chœur de Cannes (formerly the Ensemble Vocal de Cannes, founded in 1960) currently numbers 70 amateur choristers whose ambition is to promote high-quality choral music. Constantly open to a wide variety of projects (opening concert for the Monaco Circus Festival, opening concert for the Cannes Film Festival, Christmas concerts, the Cannes Poetry Night concert, charity concerts, regular participation in the Saint-Jean Cassien Festival…), with around ten concerts a year in France, the Chœur de Cannes also responds to regular invitations from foreign choirs to give concerts in their countries, including Spain, Italy, Estonia, Romania, Ireland, Hungary, Austria, Canada, the Netherlands and, in 2026, Croatia.
The wide-ranging repertoire covers all genres of choral music, from Renaissance music to contemporary works and traditional songs.
THE CHOIR DIRECTOR: Patrik Clette
A choral conductor and composer, Patrick Clette directs Le Chœur de Cannes (mixed choir), l’Ensemble Vocal Hildegarde (women’s choir), l’Ensemble Vocal L’Envol (mixed choir) and the children’s choir of Nice’s Institut Stanislas. A teacher and trainer, he is also a lecturer in choral conducting at the ESPE of the Université Côte d’Azur and responsible for choral practices in the Musicology department of the Université Côte d’Azur.
After studying at the conservatories in Cannes and Nice, he took two parallel courses at university: Musicology and Educational Sciences, earning a Master’s degree in Musicology and a Master’s degree in Educational Consulting and Training.
Fascinated by all musical aesthetics, and favoring transdisciplinary approaches, he is involved in a wide range of projects: concerts abroad (Estonia, Romania, Ireland, Italy, Hungary, Austria, Canada, Basque Country…), choir workshops at the Nice prison, creation of the youth orchestra at the Institut Stanislas in Nice, lectures on the history of music…
