Founded in 2004, the “Festival Novo Chorus” is composed of amateur choristers of all ages under the direction of Yun-Hung Chen.

Yun-Hung Chen, an excellent conductor and professional choir director, is highly regarded by audiences both in her home country and abroad.

She dedicates herself to training the group with patience and high standards.

Under her leadership, the vocal quality of the choristers has greatly improved, and their repertoire has been considerably enriched.

Awards & distinctions

Since its creation, the choir has performed in numerous concerts both in its home country and abroad. It has participated in major international events such as:

  • September 2011: The FNC participated in a joint concert titled “Tian Ya Gong Ci Shi” with the Zhejiang University Senior Choir in Hangzhou, China.
  • October 2011, a concert held at the Qin Tai Concert Hall in Wuhan, China, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Xinhai Revolution.
  • November 2011, the FNC won the Gold Medal at the New Spiritual Choral Competition in New Taipei City, organized by TCMC (Taiwan Choral Music Center).
  • December 2013, the FNC traveled to Prague, Czech Republic, to perform at the Musik Reisen Faszination (MRF) festival.
  • May 2015, the FNC was invited by the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra to participate in performances of “Yellow River Cantata, World Premiere of the Moscow Version” for Xian Xinghai’s 110th anniversary concert in Shanghai, China.
  • December 2016, The FNC won the Bronze Medal at the National Choral Competition in Zhiang Hua County, Taiwan.
  • June 2018, the FNC traveled to ITALY as part of the 21st Alta Pusteria International Choral Festival.

The choristers of the FNC are primarily dedicated to bringing out harmony and artistic spirit in life through choral singing. They sincerely hope that the world can become a better place through choral singing.

THE CHOIR DIRECTOR: Chen Yun-Hung

Chen Yun-Hung is a choir director, holding a Bachelor of Music degree from Soochow University in Taiwan and a Master’s degree from the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. She is also a lecturer and judge in choral music.

Chen Yun-Hung is equally at home in an avant-garde soundscape as she is in lyrical folk singing.

Chen has led choirs that have won numerous international titles.

Awards & distinctions

She has also received several awards for best choir conductor in many international choral competitions. Chen’s lifelong mission has been to promote choral music and music education in Taiwan and to make them known worldwide. To this end, she founded the Taiwan Choral Music Center (TCMC) in 2000 with a group of friends.

The Taipei Chamber Singers (TCS), in particular, have become important representatives of contemporary choral music under Chen’s artistic direction. The albums produced by the group won the Best Vocal Performance award at the 21st Golden Melody Awards for Arts and Traditional Music in 2012, as well as the Best Album Producer and Best Conductor Performance awards at the 26th Golden Melody Awards in 2015.
