Jazz, pop, gospel and classical. Sometimes fragile, minimal and understated. Often ecstatic and bursting with energy. Young, enthusiastic, sexy, talented, confident and sincere. Prepare to be moved and amazed!

Our name: Dekoor is an analogy of décor and the Dutch word for choir: koor. This means that “de” is pronounced like “day”, and “koor” sounds like “core” (/’deikɔ:1).

Biography: Dekoor Close Harmony is made up of 35 talented young students from Utrecht. Dekoor mainly sings in the jazz and pop genres, but its repertoire also extends to gospel, classical and other styles. Led by musical director Christoph Mac-Carty, Dekoor performs either a cappella or accompanied by a jazz combo.

Awards & distinctions

In recent years, Dekoor has presented its own show in many theatres in the Netherlands, its home country, taken part in several national television programmes, and also collaborated with internationally renowned artists such as the Rolling Stones and Damien Rice in some of the Netherlands’ largest concert halls and festivals.

During the summers of 2016 and 2018, Dekoor amazed an international audience at Hungary’s famous Sziget Festival!

Any description of Dekoor would be incomplete without mentioning its trophy cabinet. Dekoor has won several national titles in choral singing, and was also named best in the Jazz and Pop categories at the World Choir Games in China, the United States, Latvia and South Africa (2010, 2012, 2014, 2018).
