Chamber Choir

Choir presentation
To explain the Oriol Martorell Choir, we must first briefly explain who Oriol Martorell was and what the IEA Oriol Martorell is.
Oriol Martorell (1927-1996) was an educator, choir director, and history professor at the University of Barcelona, ultimately a humanist, who used music and choral singing as a tool for social cohesion, building national consciousness, and defending Catalonia, individual and collective rights and freedoms. His faith in art and culture as an essential part of the human essence touches and inspires us in equal measure. It is for this reason that we are honored to preserve his memory.
The IEA Oriol Martorell is an artistic school institute under the Department of Education of the Generalitat de Catalunya where young talents can study music or dance and general education in an integrated manner.
The general profile of our students is that of young people with a clear vocation who opt for demanding, high-level artistic training.
The members of the Cor de Cambra Oriol Martorell are music students who, voluntarily and outside their academic curriculum, choose to practice vocal music for the pure pleasure of making music and performing it to the best of their abilities.
THE CHOIR DIRECTOR: Daniel Antoli I Plaza
Born in Barcelona, he holds degrees in Composition, Singing, Piano, Music Theory-Solfège and Accompaniment, and Orchestral Conducting from the Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceu de Barcelona and the Conservatori Superior Municipal de Música de Barcelona with the highest qualifications. He extended his training in Orchestral Conducting in Vienna. He holds a degree in Music Education from the University of Barcelona.
He has taught music at the country’s leading institutions (University of Barcelona, Conservatori Superior de Música de Barcelona, Institut Escola Artístic Oriol Martorell…) and in various conducting courses over the past 20 years. He is currently a professor in the Advanced Training Course in Choral Conducting Techniques of the Generalitat de Catalunya.
He has performed throughout Europe and America and at several international festivals, conducting ensembles from our country and abroad, such as the Jove Orquestra Nacional de Catalunya, the Orquestra i Coro Filarmonía de Madrid, the Vic Chamber Orchestra, the LMO Orchestra (Germany), the National Youth Choir of Norway, the Chamber Choir of the Royal Conservatory of Stockholm (Sweden), the University of Portland Choir (Oregon, United States), the Liedercàmera Choir (Catalonia), La Cobla Principal del Llobregat, the Cobla Principal de la Bisbal, La Cobla Sant Jordi, and the Vidin Symphony Orchestra (Bulgaria), among others.
