Altrenote Choir

Altrenote Choir

Choir presentation

Founded in Rome in 2000, Altrenote is a mixed choir composed of passionate amateurs who meet weekly to sing.

Accompanied by numerous musical instruments, we perform traditional sacred music pieces from various regions of the world: guitar, congas, tambourine, darabuka, maracas, electronic flute, “rainstick”, cymbals, accordion, harmonica, and accordion.

The joy of singing and doing it together, the desire to share different sounds and timbres through song, the happiness of being useful to those in need, and finally, a curiosity for musical research are our core elements.

From this derives the choice of repertoire, which generally features ancient and modern authors belonging to the Christian tradition (or related, such as Jewish songs) from different continents, all linked by themes of hope, peace, liberation, celebration, and the invocation of God.

The creation of this meeting place amidst so much “diversity” stems from the awareness of living in a city like Rome, truly dedicated to “universality!”, a crossroads of cultures and peoples, and the center of universal Christianity.

Our concerts are entirely free; all proceeds, after expenses, are used for solidarity initiatives, both in Italy and in other parts of the world.

And finally… let’s not forget that we love to travel a lot, so for this reason: singing and traveling, almost every year, we gladly participate in festivals, national and international gatherings both in Italy and in Europe.

THE CHOIR DIRECTOR: Francesca Palombi

The choir director, although not a professional, has gained considerable experience in organizing and staging concerts, recitals, and musical gatherings, driven by a great passion, especially for popular music from around the world.

Thanks to her background: travels, participation in festivals, experience in a scout group, and professional experience in a research center, she has collected many songs and musical pieces from Africa, Asia, North America, and Europe, mostly of popular origin.

She then specialized in sacred music, always traditional.

Among her various experiences: musical gatherings, concerts with other choirs, vigils, sung masses, and participation in performances at national and international events.
