Die Primaner

Choir presentation
The Primaner is a mixed youth choir made up of students from grades 3 to 12. The 75 singers attend the Georg Friedrich Händel Gymnasium, a Berlin music school. Ensemble practice and regular vocal training are an integral part of the school’s musical education. Regular rehearsals and an annually-changing repertoire forge the identity of the Choirs.
The Primaner have an extensive a cappella repertoire, ranging from G. Gabrieli’s “Jubilate Deo” to Bach motets, as well as choral works from the Romantic period and the 20th and 21st centuries. The Choirs regularly take part in large-scale oratorio performances. In 2025, for example, C. Orff’s “Carmina Burana” was performed on the occasion of its 30th anniversary.
Numerous concert Tours and Competition entries have taken the Choirs to Latvia, Hungary, Italy, Switzerland, Korea, Israel and the USA. In 2024, Die Primaner won a gold medal at the International Young Bohemia Festival in Prague. In 2025, the Choirs were invited to the 36th Festival of Youth Choirs in Celje, Slovenia, and combined this with a concert tour of Venice. In 2025, Juliane Roever took over the direction of the Choirs.
THE CHOIR DIRECTOR: Juliane Roever
Juliane Roever studied music pedagogy and music theory at Berlin University of the Arts. She studied conducting with Frank Markowitsch, Tammin Julian Lee and Alexander Lebek.

In 2013, she founded the Junger Kammerchor Berlin, with whom she cultivates a wide-ranging a cappella repertoire and regularly performs oratorios. She performs regularly with the Junge Kammerchor Berlin on Berlin’s major stages. Concert tours have taken her to Poland, the Czech Republic and Austria.
