Boys Choir Lucerne

Boys Choir Lucerne

Choir presentation

The male voices of the “Boys Choir Lucerne” are a small ensemble from the “Boys Choir Lucerne”.

The 18 singers are all from the city or region of Lucerne (Switzerland).

Our goal is to be able to sing different musical styles at a high level.
Whether preparing film music, classical repertoire, popular Swiss songs, or musicals: enjoyment should never be lacking, despite meticulous work. The training of the singers begins at the age of 7. After their voices change, the young singers join the men’s ensemble for selected projects. Each singer receives private instruction.

Awards & distinctions

The ensemble often participates successfully in competitions. The singers, aged between 14 and 22, have received numerous national and international awards (for example: Montreux, Cattolica, Neerpelt 1st prize cum laude). In 2019, they were invited to perform twice in Bonn by the European Choral Association.
The audience and professionals greatly appreciated the creativity of the pieces, which were composed or arranged specifically for this ensemble.
This led to an invitation to the renowned EJCF festival in Basel (CH) in 2022.
The male voices of the Boys Choir Lucerne are under the direction of Andreas Wiedmer.

THE CHOIR DIRECTOR: Andreas Wiedmer

After training as a primary school teacher in Lucerne, Andreas Wiedmer studied singing, choral conducting, and music education.
He specialized early on in in-depth work with children’s and youth choirs. This led him to perform regularly with various ensembles in Switzerland and abroad, as well as to participate in major festivals, where he won several awards.

Awards & distinctions

In 2020, he was appointed lecturer in music education at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland. He also lectures on vocal training and choral conducting at the Zurich University of the Arts (Certificate of Advanced Studies CAS for conducting children’s and youth choirs) and for the Italian Choral Association. He is a renowned speaker on topics such as conducting children’s choirs, voice development, and managing voice changes.
