Lyon International Choir

Choir presentation

The Lyon International Choirs is an association loi 1901 that was founded in June 2019 by a group of international expats living in Lyon, France. Brought together by a passion for music, a sense of community and a desire to sing in English, this small choir quickly grew into a group of over 50 members of around 15 different nationalities.
From our first show in December 2019, to virtual performances on Euronews during lockdown, to concerts at various venues in Lyon (La Commune, Ninkasi Kao, Temple du Change), the Lyon International Choirs has become a musical force that brings together Lyon’s international and French communities, while working with local musicians to create a bridge between all communities

THE CHOIR DIRECTOR: Seren Rimminton

Originally from the UK, Seren Rimmington is a former chorister turned choir director. She co-founded the 1901 Lyon International Choir association in 2019, and has been its choir director since 2021.

Self-taught and known for her infectious energy, she has a unique ability to take everyone with her. Under her direction, a group of amateur singers becomes a tight-knit ensemble, driven by the pleasure of singing together.

Seren makes it a point of honor to create a positive collective atmosphere, and to develop each person’s strengths with kindness, expertise and constant encouragement.

All this has enabled the Lyon International Choir to perform at the Fête de la Musique under the aegis of the city of Lyon, and to organize concerts in many of Lyon’s prestigious venues, including the Temple du Change, Ninkasi Lyon and the Grand Temple de Lyon.

Following the success of her methods, in 2025, in cooperation with the Board of Directors, she opened a second all-female Choirs, which perpetuates the association’s values of Community, Joy and Music, proving the confidence that the Board and the 100 singers together have in her skills.
