The Santa Croce Polyphonic Choir is based in Sorso, Sardinia. It was officially established as a cultural and musical association in September 2009. Conducted by Maestro Graziano Madrau, it offers a very broad repertoire in terms of era and genre, ranging from traditional Sardinian songs to classical polyphony and contemporary music.

The choir is constantly involved in projects and concerts throughout Sardinia and has performed numerous times both nationally and internationally.

It serves as a vehicle for promoting the cultural and social heritage of Sardinia through the enhancement of traditional music.

Awards & distinctions

Among the choir’s most significant experiences are its participation in the 23rd Festival Coral de Quart de Poblet (Valencia) in 2014; its involvement in major national and international choral competitions such as the 56th edition of the “Seghizzi” in Gorizia in 2017; and the 13th Liviu Borlan International Choral Competition in Baia Mare, Romania, in 2018, where the choir received two international jury awards (the Media Prize and the Popular Prize).

In January 2011, as part of the celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy, the Sorso City Council awarded the choir the title of “Association of Cultural Interest,” requesting that the Ministry of Cultural Heritage grant it the “Association of Cultural Interest” award.
