Altrenote Choir

Born in Rome in 2000, it is a mixed choir made up of ordinary people, not professionals but passionate people who meet every week to sing together.

With various musical instruments, we produce traditional sacred music pieces from various regions of the world: guitar, congas, tambourine, darabuka, maracas, electronic flute, “rain stick”, cymbals, accordion, harmonica and accordion.

The pleasure of singing songs and doing it together, the desire to make known through singing different sounds and timbres, the joy of being useful to those who need it and finally the curiosity for musical research, are our constituent elements.

From this derives the choice of the repertoire of songs that advocate, generally non-authored, ancient and modern, belonging to the Christian tradition (or close to them like Jewish songs) from different continents, all linked by themes from hope, peace, liberation, to celebration and invocation of God.

The creation of this meeting place among so much “diversity” comes from the awareness of living in a city, like Rome, actually voted “for universality!” », crossroads of cultures and peoples and center of universal Christianity.

Our concert is completely free, whatever we manage to collect, excluding expenses, we use it for solidarity initiatives, both in Italy and in other parts of the worl.

And finally… let’s not forget that we really like to travel, on the contrary to sing and travel and for this reason, almost every year, we very willingly participate in festivals, in national and international meetings both in Italy and in Europe.

Francesca Palombi (choir director)

The choir director, although not professional, has acquired some experience in the organization and staging of concerts, recitals and musical encounters driven by a great passion, particularly for popular music from around the world.

Thanks to past vicissitudes (travel, participation in festivals, experience in a scout group, professional experience in a research center), he participated in the collection of numerous songs and musical pieces from Africa, Asia, America from the North and Europe, mostly of popular origin.

Then she specialized in sacred music, always traditional, or rather “not by the author”.  Among the various experiences: musical encounters, concerts with other choirs, vigils, sung masses, participation in shows during national and international.
