Odense Chamber Choir consists of approximately 25 experienced singers and is among the best a capella amateur choirs in Denmark.
The choir sings a large and diverse international repertoire, covering musical periods from renaissance to present day. In addition to Danish the repertoire includes lyrics in English, German, Latin, Spanish, Italian, Swedish, Norwegian, Icelandic, Russian and more languages. The choir’s roots go back to 1951, when it was originally known as “Odense University’s Little Choir”.
During 2000-2017 the choir’s name was University of Southern Denmark Chamber Choir and conducted by Saul Zaks.Since 2018 Odense Chamber Choir has been conducted by Uffe Most (b. 1958).
Uffe Most is trained as a pianist and conductor at the conservatories in Aarhus and Hanover and today he is the head of Odense Music School. Uffe Most is also active as a composer and arranger.
In 1992, Uffe Most was honored with the composer award at the choir competition in Kalundborg, and in 1993 he received the conductor award at the 4th international choir competition in Budapest.
In the years 1987-2007, he was the conductor of Academic Choir Aarhus. In March 2002, Uffe Most was appointed as Visiting Professor at the Department of Music at the University of Shaoxing, China, and during 2005-2006 he resided in China as a Visiting Professor at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and Shaoxing University Music Department, where he was teaching and conducting the Shanghai Conservatory of Music Girls Choir and Shaoxing University Mixed Choir.Since 2006, Uffe Most has been the conductor of the professionally working men’s choir Vox Aros. From 2017, Uffe Most has been Foreign Guest Conductor for the Shanghai Youth Choir, which in the summer of 2018 won 1st prize in the international Bela Bartok choir competition in Debrecen, Hungary.
