Les Choeurs de Provence

A 4-voice mixed choir gathering about fifty amateur choristers from Marseille and the Provence region. Created in 1980 by Alain Chouvet, then directed by Claude Rose from 1998 to 2007, it has been directed by Gallian Ressort since 2008. Every year, the Chœurs de Provence perform in Marseille and the region, where a large audience enjoys their programme of well-known and lesser-known works, such as Berlioz’s “Lelio” (2009); Kodaly’s “Te Deum” (2010); Mendelssohn’s “Lauda Sion” (2011); Carl Orff’s “Carmina Burana” (2012). In 2008 and 2011, the Chœurs de Provence presented a surprisingly contemporary work, Schönherr’s ‘Magnificat’, which was a great success. In 2016, their performance of Martin Palmeri’s ‘Misatango’ thrilled their audience. In June 2019, the Chœurs de Provence participated in the world premiere of Martin Palmeri’s new work, the “Gran Misa”, at Carnegie Hall in New York. In 2020, the Chœurs de Provence had the pleasure of accompanying the candidates of the “Prodiges” programme broadcast on F2.
