The Shu-Te University Glee Choir was established in 2013.  The ensemble is made up of a vast group of DPA students that specialize in a vocal repertoire ranging from classical to contemporary pop musical styles.

Glee Choir has been invited to perform in Japan, Thailand, Tainan, and Penghu. In 2013, it participated in the Pattaya International Choir Competition in Thailand and won a silver medal. In 2017, Glee Choir participated National Student Music Competition with a superb performance of singing and dancing and awarded excellent. STU Glee Choir was invited by the Creation Opera Troupe to participate in “Carmen” opera performances in three major theaters in Taipei,Taizhong and Kaohsiung. Participated in three groups of Taipei International Choral Music Festival in 2018 and won silver.

In 2017, the choir participated in the National Student Music Competition where they won the 1st prize in  youth and male category , 2nd prize in female category.

In 2018, the choir participated in the international choral singing competition “Taipei Aiyue”, where it won the silver medal.

In the same year, the choir was invited by International Choral Meeting Japan as guest of honor.

In 2019, the choir obtained a Gold medal in Leonardo Da Vinci International Choral Festival in three categories: chamber and youth choir and popular music.

Shan-Min Yu – Artistic Director/ Conductor

Shan-Min Yu is a creative artist with multiple talents. She studied voice performance at Westminster Choir College, received her master degree in choral conducting at Temple University in Philadelphia and has performed in off-Broadway shows for years. Her performance was reviewed by the New York Times as singing that “dovetails the vibrato projection of Western opera and the smooth curves of jazz singing.”

In 2000, she returned to settle in Taiwan and obtained a master’s degree in acting of drama department from the Taipei University of Arts.

Over the years Ms. Yu has been active in choral music and regarded as one of the most important choral conductors in Taiwan. She has conducted many choirs which participated many international festivals and competitions. In 2018, he was invited by the International Choral Kathaumixw at Powell River, Canada to be a jury of the choral competition, and the Tainan Chamber Choir was invited to be a guest choir. In 2019 she leads Shu-Te Glee Club to participate the

3th Leonardo Da Vinci International Choral Festival and Competition,won five gold medals, and also she personally won the best pop jazz female singer award. Besides her passion in choral music, Ms. Yu is also a dedicated director in theatre and film production. Now she is full-time professor at the Department of Performing Arts of Shu-Te University.  She is the artistic director and conductor of Tainan Chamber Choir, Choir of Penghu Cultural Bureau and Shu-Te University Glee Club.
