Permoník Men’s Chamber Choir
Concours and Festival Choral International en Provence 2025
The Male Chamber Choir (abbreviated to MKS) was founded in 2013 by several former members of the Permoník Concert Choir and its ranks have been growing ever since. At the events, young men aged between 12 and 26 meet twice a week, on Thursdays and Fridays.
Although the Permoník Men’s Chamber Choir was founded relatively recently, it has managed to win numerous awards. On several occasions, it has won gold and silver medals at international competitions (Voix d’Or de Montserrat, Cracovia Cantans, Botticelli International Choral Festival, Gangneung World Choral Games, etc.). ). MKS’s most recent success was winning the chamber choir category and the prize for the best Czech composition performed at the international Svátky písní Olomouc festival in 2024.
The choir’s repertoire is extensive, ranging from sacred works to folk and musical melodies. A significant part of its repertoire consists of music from the 20th and 21st centuries, for example by J. Vičar, J. Bernátek, E. Hradecký and many others. Together with the girls from the Permoník Concert Choir, they form the Permoník Youth Choir, whose repertoire focuses on spiritual works from different periods (GF Handel, JJ Ryba, S. Rachmaninov, contemporary composers KA Arnesen, E. Whitacre, etc.). In addition to classical concerts, MKS is regularly invited to perform at various festive events and vernissages. Like the other studio choirs, it also takes part in educational concerts.
The choir conductor is Karina Grimová, accompanied on the piano by Jakub Šotkovský.
