Chamber Mixed choir of Vilnius University Hospital Santara

Concours and Festival Choral International en Provence 2025

The choir was organized due to the initiative of several active neurologists in October 2018. The participants of the choir are doctors, nurses and other employees of the hospital, in whose lives music plays an important part.

The first concert took place in December 2018.

The choir, led by Gabriele Rastenyte-Malisauskiene, propagates traditionally and contemporary interpreted Lithuanian folk songs as well as songs of Lithuanian composers, introduces secular and ecclesiastical vocal music to Lithuanian society.

The group represented Lithuania in the following international festivals:

June 2019 – International choir competition „Auksinė Šalčios juosta 2019“,

3rd place.

July 2021 – XV International Festival of Arts „MUZITE“ („The Muses“), Sozopol, Bulgaria, 1st place.

November 2021 – Lithuanian Juozas Gudavičius choir competition „Kur giria žaliuoja“, 3rd place.

Juny 2022 – International choir festival „Kaunas Cantat“.

April 2023 – Cork International Choral Festival, Cork, Ireland.

June 2023 – XIV International choir competition „Auksinė Šalčios juosta 2023“, 2nd place.

November 2023 – International Warsaw Choir Festival “VARSOVIA CANTAT 2023”, 2nd place.

July 2024 our choir participated in the Lithuanian Song Festival.

2024 August 27 – 31 d. d. The Chamber Mixed Choir of Santaros Clinics participated in the International Music Festival “Together We Sing” in Loutraki- Corinthia, Greece.

In November 2024, at the invitation of the Evangelishe Kirche Finthen Choir, they participated in a project in the city of Mainz, Germany, where they performed Louis Vierne’s Messe Solennelle op.16

Every year, the choir participates in Christmas concerts at Santara clinics, St. Ignatius Church, organizes concerts for employees, patients and visitors of Santaras clinics.

Gabrielė Rastenytė-Mališauskienė

In 1994 Gabrielė Rastenytė-Mališauskienė founded the chamber women’s choir “Guostė” and lead it until 2021. For many years the choir belonged to Officers’ Club of the Lithuanian Armed Forces and has performed extensively for the Lithuanian Armed Forces and the public. It has represented Lithuania in international competitions and festivals in Ireland, Italy, Malta, Hungary, Germany, Canada and Iceland. The choir disbanded due to the reorganisation of the Officers’ Club.

A new Chamber Mixed Choir of Vilnius University Hospital “Santara” was born in 2018 thanks to Gabrielė Rastenytė-Mališauskienė and a few active doctors at Vilnius University Hospital Santaros Clinics. Gabrielė Rastenytė-Mališauskienė actively performs with this choir in Lithuania as well participates in International Choir Festivals and Competitions.
