ORFEO VEUS JUNTES
Slovenia tour
The public presentation of the Orfeó Veus Juntes in the Christmas of 1975 under the direction of Josep Lluís Valldecabres is contextualised in a period of full effervescence of the Valencian choral movement. Since its origins, the Orfeó has regularly offered several concerts every year in Quart de Poblet and other Valencian towns. The Orfeó’s approach to choral music translates into the participation and organisation of different solidarity initiatives that combine music and social aid.
It is a regular participant in campaigns sponsored by the Conselleria de Cultura and the Diputació de València and in competitions in other Spanish cities.
Throughout its 50 years, the Orfeó Veus Juntes has performed concerts in different European countries, such as Italy, Belgium, Hungary, France, Portugal, Germany and the Czech Republic. In 2009 they presented in New York the show Ressons de Lorca, which combines choral singing with theatrical aspects of works by Federico García Lorca.
In 2010 he premiered in Quart de Poblet the Brazilian music show Estrada do Sol and in 2011 he presented a concert with works by the British group Queen. In 2013 he took part in the exaltation of the Fallera Major de València, in a show held at the Palau de la Música and broadcast on television, called Queen on fire. In June 2016 he performed the Broadway musical Records, in 2018 he had a great success with Un Orfeó de Pel-lícula and in 2022 and 2023 he filled the Auditori Molí de Vila again with Nos vamos de Zarzuela and La Movida. In 2024 he presents his tribute to radio with Onda Veus Juntes: Freqüència Improvisada and in 2025 Orfeó Veus Juntes: 50 anys d’història cantada.
Between 2025 and 2026 the Orfeó Veus Juntes is planning various concerts and events to celebrate its 50th anniversary
Recent symphonic-choral works include Felix Mendelssohn’s Salm 42 and John Rutter’s Mass of the Children in 2010, Johann Sebastian Bach’s Passió segons Sant Mateu in 2011 and Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony in 2012, Charles Gounod’s Messe solennelle en l’honneur de Sainte-Cécile in 2014, Mahler’s Second Symphony Ressurreció in 2015, Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana in 2017, and Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem in 2022 and 2025.
One of the most important milestones in the history of the Orfeó is the creation in 1983 of the Escola Coral de Quart de Poblet with the aim of promoting the knowledge of choral music in children, which constitutes a children’s choir of reference in the Valencian Community.
Since September 2014 the musical director is Pablo Gimeno Capella.
