Harmonious Chorale Ghana

Harmonious Chorale Ghana is an award-winning, non-denominational, semi-professional choir based in Ghana’s capital, Accra. It started in 2005 as a quartet and then transformed into a full-fledged choir in October 2007. Through dedication and hard work, Harmonious Chorale has carved out a niche and identity that has enabled many choral groups within and outside the country to be mentored.

Harmonious Chorale was crowned World Choir Games champion (category C28) in its first participation in 2018 in South Africa. The choir has also won numerous awards, including ‘Choir of the Year’ at the GHYouth Choir Festival and Awards for three consecutive years from 2015 to 2017. The choir also received the prestigious award for Best Choral Group at the Shine Awards 2018.

Harmonious Chorale identifies as a Christian organization and serves as the resident choir of Salt and Light Music Ministry, a branch of Salt and Light Ministries; a para-church organization whose purpose is to motivate and encourage the body of Christ to live productive Christian lives.

The choir has currently produced twelve (12) albums.

The choir is directed by James Varrick Armaah, a prolific composer who has composed several works, including the multi-award winning song “Oye”, aka “Asem papa bia m’ate”). Reverend Dr. Joyce Rosalind Aryee is the executive chairman of the choir.
